Before joining Stahl Vision, Dr. Knowles served as Chief of Ophthalmology and Refractive Surgery at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he led the Warfighter Laser Surgery Center. He is recognized as the most accomplished LASIK surgeon at Wright-Patterson and now brings his expertise in LASIK, PRK, and Custom Wavefront Laser Surgery, including CustomVision™ LASIK, to Stahl Vision. Dr. John F. Gillis is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, diabetic and glaucoma exams, autoimmune baseline exams, dry eye management, and routine eye exams at Stahl Vision in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Gillis holds a medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and completed his ophthalmology residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He also served as a flight surgeon and later as academic teaching staff, training residents in the management of complex ocular diseases.
Before joining Stahl Vision, Dr. Gillis was the Chief of Ophthalmology and Refractive Surgery at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he led advanced cataract surgery and refractive procedures, including LASIK, PRK, SMILE, and ICL. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of several professional organizations. With a background in both clinical care and medical missions, Dr. Gillis is excited to bring his expertise to the Dayton community, continuing Stahl Vision’s tradition of excellence in eye care.
DR. TONY FENTON, O.D.
Optometrist
Dr. Fenton is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry and has been practicing in Dayton, Ohio, since 1989. He is a part-owner of Vision Makers, where he specializes in primary care optometry, including contact lenses and the evaluation and treatment of ocular diseases. Additionally, Dr. Fenton practices part-time at the ophthalmology office of Drs. Brian Stahl and James Knowles, where he co-manages patients undergoing cataract surgery, refractive laser procedures, and ocular disease treatment.
For over 20 years, Dr. Fenton has been actively involved with Prevent Blindness Ohio, donating more than 200 eye examinations annually. He has served on the organization's board and is currently the chairman of the Dayton chapter, demonstrating his commitment to improving eye health and vision care in the community.
